Dr. Jean-François Bureau is a Professor at the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa. He is interested in representational and behavioural manifestations of attachment in preschool, and school-aged children, and in adolescents and their influence on social-affective and cognitive development. His current research deals with genetic and environmental precursors of attachment behaviour.
Dr. Bureau completed his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal in 1999. He also did both his Master’s and Doctoral degrees at the Université du Québec à Montréal which he completed in 2005 under the supervision of Dr. Ellen Moss where he studied mother-child attachment in the preschool period. He then obtained a post-doctoral internship at Harvard Medical School where he studied the effect of family relationships on the development of psychopathologies in adolescence.
He began his career at the University of Ottawa in 2007. He is author of numerous peer-reviewed articles, as well as national and international conference presentations.
